Wallpaper can add a whole new attractive look to a room but it also demands a lot of time and patience to get the job done correctly. If you are looking to hang wallpaper in a particular room in your house or maybe all of them, here are some useful tips that I have found very helpful and hopefully you will find them helpful too.
Wallpaper Tips
- Measuring- It’s important to measure how much wallpaper you will actually need. A good rule of thumb is to always add three inches onto the actual amount. After you have this established you can mark the area you will be cutting. Be sure to cut straight to avoid any ragged edges.
- Trimming- After you have wallpapered exactly where you want, trim the excess wallpaper where the ceiling and the wall meet and also at the bottom. Use some sort of trimming knife. Do all of this only after the wallpaper has completely dried.
- Next Section- Before you move onto the next section of the wall, you want to make sure it matches your already finished product. It needs to match the pattern perfectly. The best thing to do for it to match is lay it flat on the floor and cut and make adjustments.
- Corner- You can now start to wallpaper in one corner of the room. It is suggested to do this behind the room’s door. You can easily hide mistakes while you are learning to use the wallpaper properly.
- Overlap- Overlap each strip of wallpaper with the next strip. You can smooth each strip with some sort of wide brush to iron out any bumps, bubbles, or wrinkles.
Before you get started be sure you have your ladder already in place so that you can quickly and easily go back and forth. For future reference, consider using strippable wall paper so that you can redo the room in the future if needed.
